We invest in your development from day one, combining excellent legal training with mentoring, regular feedback and clear opportunities for career progression. We look for lawyers with outstanding legal expertise who contribute creative solutions, unconventional strategies and fresh perspectives.

At DORDA, you can expect high standards: in your work, your development and the way we work together

Associate at DORDA. A career with a clear path.

Through regular dialogue with lawyers and partners, associates gain valuable insights and develop both professionally and personally. We support you in becoming an expert in your field and in building your individual profile as a lawyer.

As an associate, you work on challenging matters, become involved in cases early on and take responsibility, including direct contact with clients, courts and authorities. The Austrian bar examination is a key milestone, and we support you on the way there through the DORDA Academy, non-legal development formats and a culture that enables and encourages learning.

At the DORDA Academy, you deepen your knowledge across different areas of law, engage with current legal issues and prepare specifically for the bar examination. As a leading firm for legal training, we cover the cost of relevant courses and provide additional examination leave so that you can prepare as effectively as possible.

FAQ

Working as an associate at DORDA is hands-on, varied and responsibility-driven.

From the outset, you work actively on client matters, research legal questions, draft contracts and pleadings, and assume responsibility early. You work in small teams, interact with clients, courts and authorities, and receive support through mentoring and regular feedback.

This gives you valuable practical experience and helps you develop your legal career at DORDA with purpose and direction.

DORDA provides targeted support for associates preparing for the Austrian bar examination.

This includes the DORDA Academy, additional training opportunities and a supportive learning culture that promotes continuous professional and personal development.

DORDA also covers the cost of relevant training and provides examination leave. Structured mentoring and regular feedback discussions provide guidance, foster professional development and build confidence.

Associates receive 20 days of paid examination leave to prepare for the Austrian bar examination.

In addition, you may use up to 25 days of accumulated annual leave and up to 20 days of unpaid leave to plan a longer, structured preparation period.

Associate salaries at DORDA follow a transparent, standardised salary scheme with automatic increases.

The current starting salary is EUR 4,300 gross per month and rises in stages to EUR 6,200 gross per month shortly before admission to the bar.

Increases are tied to defined milestones, for example after one year, completion of the major written examination and the bar examination. Relevant professional experience and prior periods of legal training are taken into account when determining the starting salary.

The contributions to the Bar Association (RAK) are part of our lawyers’ monthly salary.

In return, you benefit from an attractive salary and a transparent salary model with regular salary increases.

Flexible working models support work-life balance for lawyers at DORDA.

Flexible working hours, remote-working options and part-time models help lawyers balance a career in a commercial law firm with different stages of life.

Trust-based working hours without rigid core hours and flexible remote-working arrangements provide a high degree of flexibility.

Importantly, working part-time does not limit career development or promotion opportunities, regardless of career stage or role.

DORDA offers a variety of career and entry opportunities for legal professionals.

You can join as a lawyer, associate or legal assistant.

Students can also gain initial practical experience at a commercial law firm as a Junior Student, Research Student or Trainee.

Yes. Lawyers at DORDA can specialise in a particular area of law or Practice Area.

Our teams work within specific disciplines, while our Dedicated Industry Groups collaborate across practice areas.

Step by step, you build your own legal profile and receive targeted support in becoming an expert in your field. Challenging matters, specialised teams, mentoring, feedback and exchange with lawyers and partners support your professional development.

DORDA offers lawyers a clearly structured career path that can also be shaped individually.

The path is designed for long-term development. Many of today’s partners and lawyers began their careers at DORDA while still studying or as associates.

Student
While studying, aspiring lawyers can gain valuable insight into a modern commercial law firm as student employees. They support lawyers with research, preparation of client matters and legal analyses, while becoming familiar with DORDA’s different practice areas.

Associate
After completing their degree, graduates begin their training as associates. They assume increasing responsibility on matters, work closely with experienced colleagues and receive focused preparation for the bar examination and their future careers through mentoring, the DORDA Academy and a wide range of training opportunities.

Lawyer
After successfully completing the bar examination, the next step is qualification as a lawyer. Lawyers manage matters independently, advise clients directly and continuously expand both their specialist expertise and professional network.

Counsel
Counsel have extensive specialist expertise and many years of advisory experience. They play a key role in leading matters, support the development of younger colleagues and make an important contribution to the advancement of their practice area.

Partner
The path to partnership offers two development options. Contract Partner is generally the step preceding Equity Partner.

  • Contract Partner: You are part of the partnership and play a key role in the firm, including leadership responsibility, but you are not a co-owner.
  • Equity Partner: You are part of the partnership, play a key role in the firm and are also a co-owner.

DORDA supports lawyers in shaping their individual career paths successfully and realising their full potential.
